I have always strived to live those principles throughout my career. I grew up in the small Iowa town of Shelby, and graduated in 1996 from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Family Services and a minor in Psychology. I immediately entered the human services field. I first worked at a crisis center, then a youth shelter and finally a womens health care clinic. I found them all extremely gratifying and rewarding. After eight years, it was time for a change and I began pursuing another passion: interior design. I enrolled in college design classes and worked at Pier 1 Imports, honing my design skills and gaining valuable experience helping people visualize potential in their homes.
